I need advice on improving a really bad golf swing. There are times when it is so bad I am ashamed to go out and play.

My boss and I played. I had an interconnected near-death and near-ball experience twice. My slice had a little too much of an edge to it, it seemed. I feel awkward to stand, with my feet placed two feet apart; but, that is what my father taught me. He too was also a horrible golfer. I mean scary. Other golfers would see him coming and clear the fairway as if a bomb was going to explode. In my back stroke, I hold it down and concentrate before letting the ball rip.

This has not worked out too good so far. So if anyone can help me improve my game it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and heads up if you see me coming by at the local links.
